Sand shots

Short bunker shots – “Hit sand to the hole”

Ball forward in stance.
Keep weight on left side.
Open club face then take grip on club.
Stand further from ball.
Dig feet in, swing down shoulders, normal swing, keep body rotating, hands close to body.
Vary distance by length of backswing.
Hit 1-2 inches behind ball and follow through, club head skims under ball, no digging in.
Complete the follow through.

How:
Long rhythmical swing, open stance, ball forward, right hand weak (more on top of club)

Guaranteed out of bunkers:
No wrists, no risk, square wide stance, flex knees
Left arm controls take away, downswing and follow through.
Close clubface for wet or hard sand.
Shallower attack on ball.

Tip:
When downhill in sand place ball back in stance.

Buried bunker shot

Ball back in stance.
Hands ahead of ball.
Closed club face.
Keep head still.
Hit hard 1 inch behind ball – No follow through.
Steep angle of attack.

Long bunker play

Strike ball cleanly, slightly descending blow.
Ball in middle of stance.
Swing pre-dominantly with shoulders, hands and arms.
One extra club should circumstances allow.
